Thread Drawings
2003-To Date
Mixed Media InstallationThese
drawings are a dialogue with my materials addressing my
interest in the creation of objects that do not exist in the
natural world yet reflect or transmit information about our
world and our place in it.

Notions
2000-To Date
Mixed Media
The
acquisition of an old sewing box complete with contents
sparked my initial explorations of the topography of sewing
materials and furthered my interest in how societal changes
are reflected in our consumer goods.

1996-2000
Mixed Media
This series began as a reaction to my
teenage son's infatuation with brand name clothing labels. My
original intention of simply subverting the labels insidious role
altered as I began to work. The acquisition of an old sewing box
complete with contents not only provided diverse collage materials
but encouraged my explorations of the historical aspects of
needlework and clothing.

Collaborative work with
Diana Burgoyne
Kinetic Installation
This work is a result of the coming
together of two artistic approaches. Robin's two dimensional work
using pattern and images of domestic objects to invoke memory and
challenge the marginalization of the mundane combined with Diana's
three dimensional work involving sound, light and movement to
humanize technology. |
Mapped Perspectives
1993-1995
Mixed Media
This series explores how our sense of
landscape is a composite of many fragments - sensory information,
knowledge and memory. Like art, maps are representations of their
maker's perspective, yet also symbolize our inherent tendency to
categorize our vision. |
Willow
Works
1991-1992
Mixed Printmaking Media
My initial interest in Willow ware
was sparked when I found a small shard and, despite its size, was
able to identify the distinctive pattern. This series is concerned
with the re-examination of mundane objects and their significance in
a larger continuum, and also investigates the connections between
visual and emotional memory. |
